Everything you need to know about Timed Trading

General

Timed Trading is a scoring and timing system for swing and position traders. It watches a curated set of tickers positioned to outperform in the current market, scores them across 8 timeframes, and provides clear levels for support, resistance, and targets — along with precise timing on when to act. The goal is simple: stop guessing and start trading with conviction.

No. Timed Trading is not a registered investment advisor. All scores, signals, and levels are algorithmic outputs — not personal investment recommendations. The system is designed to provide structure and timing, but every trading decision is ultimately made by the individual. Always do your own research and consult a licensed financial advisor. See the Terms of Use for the full disclaimer.

The system tracks a curated universe of tickers that are rotated periodically to match the current market environment. Coverage includes:

  • US Stocks & ETFs — Large-caps (AAPL, MSFT, NVDA, etc.), sector ETFs (XLF, XLE, XLK), and high-potential names across all 11 GICS sectors.
  • Crypto — Bitcoin (BTCUSD) and Ethereum (ETHUSD).

The universe isn't fixed at a static number. Tickers are added and removed based on where the strongest opportunities are forming, drawing from momentum screens and sector rotation analysis.

Tickers are selected based on a combination of sector rotation signals, relative strength, momentum profiles, and volume characteristics. The system draws from curated screening processes to identify names that are positioned to outperform. The universe is not static — it rotates periodically as market conditions shift, so the focus stays on what matters now.

The ticker universe is actively managed. The system periodically evaluates which names offer the best opportunities based on sector rotation, relative strength, and momentum characteristics. Tickers that no longer meet the criteria are rotated out, and new names with stronger setups are rotated in.

As a subscriber, you can also request tickers to be added through the watchlist feature. When a ticker is added, the system automatically backfills its historical data, begins scoring it across all 8 timeframes, and includes it in the model’s evaluation. You can focus on specific names while the system handles the analysis.

The model is not static — it reads the market environment and adjusts how aggressively it trades. It monitors:

  • Market regime — Is the broad market trending, transitioning, or choppy? The system detects this from SPY, VIX, and sector rotation data, then adjusts position sizing and entry thresholds accordingly.
  • Volatility — When fear spikes (VIX elevated), the model tightens its criteria and reduces exposure. In calm markets, it can be more aggressive with higher conviction setups.
  • Sector rotation — The system tracks whether offensive sectors (tech, consumer discretionary) or defensive sectors (utilities, staples, healthcare) are leading. This helps determine the overall risk appetite of the market.

The result is a system that trades more carefully during uncertainty and more decisively when conditions are favorable — without requiring the user to make those judgment calls manually.

Using the System

Here’s a typical daily workflow:

  • Morning — Read the Daily Brief for a pre-market summary of top setups, sector themes, and any overnight changes. Check the Active Trader board for tickers in the “Enter” lane.
  • During the day — The system scores continuously. Watch for tickers moving from Setup to Enter (new opportunities) or from Hold to Defend/Trim/Exit (positions that need attention).
  • Evening — Review the Evening Brief for a recap of what happened. Check the Investor Dashboard for portfolio-level health and overall market conditions.

The system does the heavy lifting — scanning, scoring, and alerting. Your job is to review, decide, and act when the signals align with your own conviction.

The system runs a paper-trading portfolio that executes trades based on its own signals — entering, trimming, and exiting positions automatically. No real money is involved.

This simulated portfolio serves two purposes:

  • Track record — It provides a transparent, auditable history of every trade the system has taken, including entry/exit levels, P&L, and win rates.
  • Signal validation — By putting its own signals to the test in real-time, the system demonstrates conviction. You can see exactly how the model performs before deciding to follow any given signal.

You can view the full trade history, equity curve, and performance metrics on the Trades page.

Scoring & Signals

Each ticker receives a composite score (0–100) computed across 8 timeframes — from 5-minute bars up to monthly charts. The engine evaluates trend direction, momentum strength, volume profile, and risk/reward ratios. Higher scores indicate stronger conviction setups. Scores refresh every 5 minutes during market hours.

Tickers flow through a pipeline based on their scoring trajectory:

  • Setup — Building a case. Early signs of a potential move are forming.
  • Enter — Time to act. Score and conditions align for a new position.
  • Hold — The trade thesis is intact. Stay the course.
  • Defend — Caution. The trade is under pressure — tighten stops or reduce exposure.
  • Trim — Take partial profits. Momentum is fading but the trend may continue.
  • Exit — Close the position. The thesis is invalidated.

The Active Trader dashboard arranges tickers into swim-lanes by their current action phase (Setup, Enter, Hold, etc.). Within each lane, cards are sorted by score — the strongest setups appear first. Each card shows the ticker symbol, score, direction (LONG/SHORT), and price. Click any card to open the detail view with a full chart, technical breakdown, and precise levels.

The Daily Brief is a pre-market summary generated each trading day. It highlights top-scoring setups, sector rotations, and notable changes from the previous session. Think of it as a game plan for the day — everything needed to walk in prepared.

The Investor Dashboard provides a portfolio-level view of the simulated portfolio and overall market health:

  • Portfolio Health — An aggregate score showing how well current positions align with the system's signals.
  • Sector Heatmap — Strength and weakness across all 11 GICS sectors at a glance.
  • Market Health — Breadth, volatility, and regime indicators that provide context for the broader environment.
  • Simulated Trades — A full record of trades the system has taken, with entry/exit levels and P&L.

The Investor Dashboard is designed for a higher-level view — understanding the "big picture" before drilling into individual tickers on the Active Trader page.
